Beliefs

At St.Mark's, we exist as a Christian community because of Jesus Christ - and his life, death, resurrection and ascension for us.

It is Christ who has brought us to life, and it is Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit who continue to transform us, as a community of believers.

We hope that you see these core beliefs in action when we gather.

To elaborate further, we believe in One God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, as outlined in the statement of faith, commonly referred to as The Apostle's Creed:

I believe in God, the Father almighty,

    creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again from the dead;
he ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of the Father;
from there he will come again to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.

As an Anglican Reformed Evangelical church, we are a people who believe and hold to the Anglican 39 Articles, the historic church creeds such as The Apostles Creed (above) and the Nicene Creed. Constitutionally, we are part of the Anglican Diocese of Melbourne. There are a number of confessinal documents we believe to be worthy of consideration. Two of these include The Jerusalem Declaration from the Global Anglican Future Conference (2008) along with the Confessional statement (2006) from the Gospel Coalition.
