A Call to Prayer by J.C.Ryle |
| Posted by Mark Hood on 15th April, 2010 |
In the attached (14 page) document, J.C.Ryle gives a stirring (and very contemporary) call to all Christians everywhere to pray.
J.C.Ryle (1816-1900) was a Anglican Bishop of London in the latter part of the 19th century. A chief promoter of a strong and vigourous Christian faith, he wrote, "My chief desire in all my writings, is to exalt the Lord Jesus Christ and make Him beautiful and glorious in the eyes of men; and to promote the increase of repentance, faith, and holiness upon earth."
He was the First Anglican Bishop of Liverpool, and an ardent defender of Evangelical faith.
Of J.C. Ryle, Richard Hobson writes, "I am bold to say that perhaps few men in the nineteenth century did so much for God, for truth, for righteousness, among the English speaking race and in the world as Ryle."
I commend this Call to Prayer to you!
Mark
