Join us for Christmas at St Mark's. We'd love to see you there.
Carols and Lessons, Sunday Dec 18th
7:30pm Carols and Lessons: Retelling the Christmas Story from the pages of the Bible, together with many well known Christmas Carols which sing the praises of God and his Son, Jesus Christ. Supper to follow.
Christmas Eve, Saturday Dec 24th
5:00pm Children's Christmas Eve Service. Lots of fun and excitement, songs, and a play based on the very first Christmas when Jesus Christ was born. Children of all ages welcome!
11:00pm A Candlelight Christmas Eve (including Communion). Join us for this moving service, as we see in Christmas day via God's word read, preached and sung, and as we light hundreds of small candles which point to the 'light of the world', Jesus.
Christmas Day, Sunday Dec 25th
8:00am Traditional Christmas Service (including Communion), with our wonderful organ stirring us to sing praises to the Saviour.
9:30am Family Christmas Service (including Communion). Children and families most welcome at this fun, sometimes rowdy, but at all times joyous celebration of the first coming of Christ, and looking for his return.
A Bible verse and Prayer for Christmas:
'...Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, who has looked favourably upon his people... and raised up a mighty saviour...just as he promised...' (Luke 1:68-71)
Almighty God,
You make us rejoice as we each year remember the birth and coming of your only Son, Jesus Christ:
So now please help us to receive Christ joyfully as our Saviour,
So that we might also, with sure confidence,
receive him when he comes again to be our judge, and to bring in the new heaven and earth.
We pray this in the power of your Holy Spirit and in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ.
Amen
