Prayer Meetings
Meeting to pray: Tuesday mornings 8am in the Parish Centre
Notice how in Acts chapter 12, things didn’t go to plan. James, one of the three pillars of the church (and one of the three pictured in our main church window), is ‘killed with the sword’ by the tyrant Herod. You would never plan to lose one of your main men; and yet this was the very outcome. As the chapter in Acts continues, it looks like Peter will be the next, as he is seized.
Notice how the church respond to this unexpected difficulty - with fervent prayer: “While Peter was kept in prison, the church prayed fervently to God for him.” (Acts 12:5) In this, the church were following the pattern of dedication and dependence upon God established by Jesus (Matt 14:23). And the church was demonstrating the powerful work of the Holy Spirit amongst them (Rom 8:26-27).
Because of this, we as a church take this encouragement form God's word in Acts, to respond to our Lord Jesus in prayer, as we are called to do (Matt 6:9, Phil 4:6).
Please therefore join us to pray!
Some of us meet on a Tuesday morning at 8am in the Parish Centre (Lower Lounge).
We also have quarterly corporate prayer meetings. For 2010 these are:
Wednesday nights, 28 April, 28 July and 27 October, 7:45pm in the Parish Centre.
All welcome!
'...As for us, O LORD, our prayers are to you.
At an acceptable time, O God,
in the abundance of your steadfast love,
answer us with your saving faithfulness.' (Psalm 69:13)
